In northern Utah, on the trail of a ferocious Comanchero, Pablo Carrizo, whom they have been hunting for more than ten years, Tex and Carson find an old friend, the color sergeant Bill Johnson, who helps them against a gang of Utes. The famous Buffalo Soldiers, colored cavalrymen of the Tenth Cavalry, are stationed at Fort Duchesne and act as a buffer between the adventurers and bandits of Destiny, a town founded illegally on the Ute reservation, and the Utes of the Uintah Mountains, commanded by Ouray, a just and wise leader, but whose irritation is cleverly aroused by Carrizo's men. Tex asks for the help of a patrol of Buffalo Soldiers to parley with Ouray, but along the way our men are forced to barricade themselves in the White River Indian Agency, besieged by Comancheros and rebel warriors.
