While the survivors of the Band of the Innocents gather in Montana, in Tucson one of the clique dies in a firefight with Carson. Having found a clue in the dead man's pocket, the old reprobate goes to Bannock, to the gang's rendezvous. On the trail of the pard, Tex tells his son about Carson's past, his friendship with Sheriff Clemmons, the beautiful singer Lena and when the Innocenti attacked an Overland stagecoach escorted by Capelli d'Argento. Years earlier, on the trail of the Band of the Innocents who terrorized Montana, counting on numerous and unsuspecting informants, Carson had made friends with Lena, the woman of Sheriff Ray Clemmons of Bannock and his partner in a mine. When he was unmasked as the leader of the criminals, Clemmons fled, betraying his own associates, while in town the vigilantes made a clean sweep of the gang's supporters. Today, Ray is back in Bannock, at his old mine, where the stolen goods were buried, and the survivors of the Band of the Innocents want revenge! Sheriff Clemmons, ringleader and later traitor to the Innocents, had fled. Lena, pregnant with her daughter Donna, had stunned, with the sole purpose of saving him, the stubborn Carson, too battered to chase the scoundrel. Now Clemmons is in Bannock to dig up a huge loot and the bandits have taken Donna to exchange her for the loot! Tex infiltrates the gang by posing as one of the old accomplices, while Kit Willer frees the girl. In the final battle, Clemmons sacrifices himself to save Little Hawk and the last Innocents end up, as the guilty deserve, in Hell.
