Ken and Nanuk, the only survivors of the wreck of the whaling ship New England (see previous two stories), spend a summer in an Eskimo village in northern Alaska...
As regards the continuity of the series, the summer that Ken spends at the Eskimo village is that of 1873.
Arrested for helping Jolu escape (see previous story), Ken accused of murder and mistaken for the dangerous outlaw James W. Latimer, is in the village of Deerlane awaiting trial. Little Pat O'Shane, who has arrived in Alaska with her brother, attends the trial in which Ken is sentenced to death and is fascinated by the figure of the bandit Ken / Latimer. After losing her brother, killed and robbed by Lenny Roscoe, Pat manages to break Ken out of prison by posing as her daughter...
As for the continuity of the series, this adventure takes place in the month of May 1874.
