Bernard Domestici is a traveling salesman. Nothing strange, therefore, that he wakes up one morning in a cold and anonymous motel room. It is a little more unusual, however, that his shirt is smeared with blood and that a dead young waitress lies at his feet. Why can't the man, who is actually a ruthless killer, manage to reconstruct his past? What terrible events are hidden there? And what does Napoleon have to do with him who, some time before, had crossed paths with that of the murdered girl, a drug addict undergoing detoxification who had knocked on the door of the Hotel Astrid looking for work?
