Finding himself in Vienna for a painting exhibition, Napoleon takes accommodation in a period hotel, converted from the building which, years ago, had housed the courtrooms. There, at the beginning of the twentieth century, Moosbrugger, a psychopathic murderer, was tried and sentenced to hang. And who else, if not the disreputable individual, returns to those walls to disturb Napoleon's sleep, plunging him into his own madness and forcing him to share his torments? The only help for ours seems to be able to come from Katia Besson, a psychologist from Geneva, whom he has already met in the past, who returns to cross his path. Will she also end up enriching the already vast collection of victims set up by Moosbrugger the Bloodthirsty?
