Every choice we make in our lives contributes to determining our future and, sometimes, without knowing it, we make choices of capital importance; what would happen if we made a "wrong" one, thus distancing ourselves from our destiny? Martin discovers this tragically when Diana and Java are killed due to his involvement in the search for the hebdecahedron, a very powerful presumptive object. Martin manages to emerge from his despair only by convincing himself that he can change a terrible past that should have been different.
