The American writer William Burroughs came into possession of an unpublished manuscript by Giordano Bruno; in it there is talk of an ancient "machine", capable of controlling the human mind, which would be found in Rome. Burroughs asks Martin to find and destroy it before it falls into the wrong hands. In fact, both Sergei Orloff and the Men in Black are interested in finding this mysterious object...
