A rather shabby old man seeks refuge at Martin Mystère's house; he is confused and scared, and, expressing himself in a halting manner, he tells of dark jailers from whom he freed himself, making a daring escape. But his race must continue: hunted again by his mysterious pursuers, the old man must go into hiding again, so as not to endanger the lives of Martin and Java. Determined to solve the mystery, the Detective of the Impossible turns once again to his friend Inspector Travis, with whose help he begins to investigate a lead that leads him to a luxury retirement home, where, however, things are not all as they seem. It is in fact a villa populated by curious characters who possess the ability to access strange and incredible worlds, inhabited by fantastic creatures... and there are those who want to control these powers at all costs.
