Jericho

A series of arson attacks disturbs the tranquility of Jericho, a town of shopkeepers that draws its wealth from passing travelers brought by the Railroad. Poe risks falling victim to the first of these fires and is assisted by Sister Blandina, a young religious woman of Italian origin. The little nun is very worried: in a vision a dramatic fate for Jericho was announced to her. The small American town was baptized with the name of the ancient biblical city, conquered by Joshua and this is a sacrilege, given that in the Bible there is an explicit prohibition on rebuilding the city of Jericho.
