Young Pat O’Shane has a dream: a ranch of her own in Sioux Falls. But first, a herd of cattle has to be driven there… and that takes real men. The problem is, there aren’t many left in Dodge City. There are gamblers, gunfighters, adventurers with no past… and even a few legends of the West who seem to have stepped straight out of campfire tales. Between aborted duels, unlikely encounters, and a city teeming with life, Ken Parker will have to decide whom to trust. And when the herd sets off northward, only one thing will be certain: the trail will change everyone’s destiny.

Ken and Pat go looking for some cowboys to lead a herd of cattle from Dodge City to the little Irish girl's ranch in Sioux Falls...

Ken's search for men to be hired as herdsmen becomes a pretext for making a large number of characters from other western comics appear. So we see Tex Willer and his pards making a fight in saloon. Also passing through the Heroe's rest saloon we see other Bonelli heroes:

Captain Miki , Tim Carter (Un ragazzo nel Far West), Kit Teller and Zagor. Later Ken will also meet Bill Adams, one of the protagonists of Bonelli's Storia del West.

The story takes place in the late summer and early fall of 1874.
