Dragonero and Khail Davenant, the raider, are trying to catch a dangerous killer who escaped from an Imperial prison. The man wants to fulfill the mission he was given by an Obscure Djinn: stealing an ancient amulet called "the Orb of Souls". But their job immediately becomes very dangerous: Khail is poisoned by a Wyrm, while Ian has to go from the Mahlga Swamps to the snowy peaks of Margondàr, racing against the clock, in order to save his friend and retrieve the stolen talisman that is the key to enter the Realm of the Dead.
