While Ian is engaged in a hunting trip, he is joined by Baryn , the she-wolf of Briana, who wants to be followed. Ian understands that the woman is in a dangerous situation and decides to follow the she-wolf, who leads him to a lake from whose waters a gloomy tower emerges. Ian enters the dark building, more like a tomb than a fortress, and inside her he finds Briana reduced to chains. After freeing her he confronts her jailer, who is revealed to be a Cenobite Jikima . The alchemist is a madman responsible for the kidnapping of numerous women, on whom he conducted various experiments using the Fluids. The scout is initially in trouble but still manages to defeat him thanks to the timely help of the women kidnapped and transformed into monsters. Before leaving the tower with Briana, he throws the Fluids possessed by the alchemist into the waters of the lake, so that they are not easily found.

Yannah is in a serious situation: the Hammer of Yhr-Tharas , a sacred heirloom kept in those years by her family according to the tradition of her clan, has been stolen, if it is not recovered in time, she will be put to death. Her race hasn't crossed the Erondàr for millennia, what will be the reason for her presence? Yannah however recovers the hammer while Gmor, filled with doubts, returns to Solian.
