Golden Wick, a charming and characteristic village in the hills of Massachusetts. The canoeist Esther Rothman, an old acquaintance of Harlan Draka, engaged in an ecological campaign, is invited to give a conference. As is well known, so much so that tourist trips are organized from Salem, in Golden Wick there is a coven, i.e. a congregation, of harmless witches of the Wicca cult, worshipers of the Great White Goddess. But in Harlan the name of the cult awakens a distant memory: "Order of the Waning Moon". Where did you hear about it? Perhaps in a small town in Germany, Arnstadt... Memories and omens accumulate, disturbed by a dream in which Lisa appears, the slave of the cannibalistic demon Thorke, the girl that Harlan loved and who he twice failed to escape from his destiny. Is Esther perhaps in danger? What does Lisa have to do with the legendary Massachusetts witch, Asenath Prynn? And why did Ljuba, the innocent, child version of the corrupt Lisa, appear to one of the young witches?
