After reckoning with Olaf Botegosky in previous story, the Spirit-with-the-Hatchet and Cico stumble upon the dead body of a gold-digger. A bear has mauled the man, but our heroes don’t find this version of the facts too convincing. In their investigation, they track down a mysterious Hungarian gypsy, who earns his keep as a tamer of wild beasts...
There is also a Tex story with the same name "L’impronta misteriosa" in where also there are bear tracks being used by criminals.
