At the "games" house, the bookie Odyl accepts every bet. This is how he attracts his customers, letting them delude themselves thanks to the first victories, and then trapping them in his web, forcing them to pawn even their most precious things. Quentin is convinced that he is a magician with Freejack cards and, believing in a lucky hand, he bets everything, even his splendid girlfriend, Beatrix.
