A Cuban exile in New York is chased and killed by unknown hit men. From a restaurant receipt, Nick and Marvin trace the man's identity: Pedro Pereira, a professional gambler. Meanwhile, within the organization that had Pereira killed, a decision is made to eliminate the man responsible for the murder as well, because he committed a serious offense of his own: the victim was only supposed to be intimidated, not killed. The hit man's violent death gives Nick the elements he needs to reach a surprising solution to the case...
