HE OBEYED ORDERS

Many of Hitler's officers justified their atrocities in this way: "I was obeying orders." And "I must obey orders" is one of the first things that General Wilcox says to Zagor, in the epic adventure of numbers 43, 44 and 45. The orders were to dislodge Manetola's Seminoles from Florida, and that they were unjust orders has long been decreed by History, the one with a capital "S": one of the many stains in the American epic, one of the many genocides carried out by the whites to conquer the lands of the red people. And in the story (with a lowercase letter) of Nolitta, Wilcox becomes the symbol of injustice. Arrogant and full of himself as well as disloyal and cowardly, he is one of the worst "bad guys" in the Zagor saga. Perhaps he didn't even deserve this portrait.
