THE MASK OF COWARDICE

He has all the classic charm of the "masked enemy", yet he fails to become "likable" (in the particular sense we give to this word when referring to the "bad guys"). Nat Mulligan, aka ; Jan Siegel, alias The Vulture (numbers 22 and 23), had his wife and daughter killed by Indians, and wants revenge. Except that, cloaked in black, he goes around in the night to attack not the warriors, but the Indian women and children. The revelation of his tragic past is not enough to forgive him a present of horrendous crimes, and his end does not deserve a tear. Behind the mask was not a truly great villain, but only a coward.
