Poldo and Paulo

THE BEAR AND THE GYPSY

The "bestiary" of our gallery of characters is enriched, after Arturo the kangaroo in number 6; of a new animal: the poor Poldo bear. Poor because, like Arturo, he is bullied by Zagor, especially in a book (the fifth of the series) which hosts, in the space of a few pages, numerous fauna: first a moose, then a bear, then a lion. Poldo is however, in Zagor's "ecological" universe, an excellent example of an animal exploited by man (in this case the Hungarian gypsy with the curious name of Paulo Sarosi), innocent because irresponsible. The real "beasts", he seems to tell us, are some so-called "human beings"... And before dying he is granted, if nothing else, the satisfaction of being the one to do justice.
