Mayer
CRAZY—AND NUTS TO BOOT
Curiously, in the fateful number 12, a mad scientist "dies" for the first time (or rather, "the" mad scientist, Hellingen) and another one appears, certainly less important in the Zagor saga, but certainly entertaining. In a brief; unleashed episode in which basically the! myth of the Spirit with the Hatchet is cheerfully mocked, here is the strange zoologist Kruger, convinced that Zagor is a kind of "abominable man of Darkwood". And here is his assistant Mayer, less educated but equally stupid and nice. An irresistible couple, an uproar that has the rhythm of a "comic finale, a story that reinvents the classic figure of the city scholar who moved lightly from theory to practice. Luckily there is Zagor: he is indeed practical.
