THE FAKE THUG

The charm of mysterious India bursts into Zagor in numbers 53 and 54, with a "mystery" story that harks back to the exotic vein of the first detective novels, from those of Wilkie Collins to those of Conan Doyle (the creator of Sherlock Holmes). Terror and death come from afar, from India: a sect of "thugs", the stranglers, fanatical worshipers of the "black goddess" Khali, persecutes Captain Lean, "guilty" of having massacred many of their companions years earlier. In reality, the leader of these "Darkwoodian thugs" is a colleague of Lean in disguise, Harry Jason, and his real objective is not a "sacred" revenge but a profane treasure. Such hypocrisy deserves a kriss blow to the back, right?
