The comparison comes naturally: the city is the same, Chicago, and, like the gangster Capone, Blow is the boss of a criminal organization that keeps law enforcement in check through corruption and blackmail. Only the stakes are different: not the liquor trade, but the fur trade, which the Lake’s Fur Company wants to monopolize. To achieve this, it does not stop even at the vilest of crimes—the kidnapping of a child (issues 35, 36 and 37). But from his jungle of trees, Zagor arrives in this early “concrete jungle,” transformed for the occasion into a sort of G-man (as the federal agents who fought Capone were called). He cannot be bribed or stopped, and for Blow it is checkmate.
