Paolo Martinello

Paolo Martinello (born in Vicenza in 1975) is an Italian comics artist, illustrator and colourist. After earning a diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, he began his career in children's publishing as an illustrator, working with houses including Mondadori, Feltrinelli, Zanichelli, Lo Scarabeo and De Agostini.

He has been active in both the Italian and Franco-Belgian comics markets. He published Delethes with Vittorio Pavesio, collaborated with Dargaud on the series La compagnie des Glaces, and created for Glénat the three-volume series 3 Souhaits (released in Italy by Editoriale Cosmo as 3 Leggende). He has also produced tarot decks (Universal Fantasy Tarot, Mona Lisa Tarot, Epic Tarot) and graphic-novel biographies of Catherine de' Medici and the actor Sacha Guitry.

Based in Bologna, Martinello teaches digital colouring and Franco-Belgian comics, including at the International School of Comics in Reggio Emilia and the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.
