Joe R. Lansdale

Joe R. Lansdale (Joe Richard Lansdale, born 28 October 1951) is an American author who has written across horror, crime, Western, science-fiction and suspense, as well as comic books and screenplays. Raised in East Texas, he is sometimes called "the Bard of East Texas" and lives in Nacogdoches, where he has been writer-in-residence at Stephen F. Austin State University. He has produced more than fifty novels and several hundred short stories, and has won multiple Bram Stoker Awards, the Edgar Award and the British Fantasy Award.

In comics he is best known for his Western-horror take on DC's Jonah Hex, written with artist Timothy Truman: Two-Gun Mojo, Riders of the Worm and Such and Shadows West, blending the gunslinger with zombies and supernatural menaces. His prose work includes the Hap and Leonard series and the novella Bubba Ho-Tep, the latter adapted into a film by Don Coscarelli.
