Corrado Mastantuono

Corrado Mastantuono (born in Rome on December 20, 1962) was not thinking of comics when, at eighteen, he graduated from the Istituto Nazionale per la Cinematografia e la Televisione. It was in fact only from 1989 that he began his career as an artist, starting out working for the Italian Disney. Two years later, with the series Cargo Team, featured in the pages of L'Eternauta, he "debuted" in the field of realistic comics. Still in 1991, the Roman author began collaborating with Rinaldo Traini's other historic magazine, Comic Art, for which he revived his talents as a humorous draftsman.

In 1992 he won the "Albertarelli" prize, after which Sergio Bonelli Editore entrusted him with a Nick Raider story that was published two years later; following a second effort in 1996, the publisher gave him responsibility for the series covers from issue number 100 until the title closed. He subsequently moved on to Magico Vento, becoming its cover artist starting with issue number 76. He drew Tex for the first time in Il profeta Hualpai, the twenty-first Tex Speciale, released in 2007, before joining the staff of the regular series. In 2018 he drew the first two issues of the miniseries Deadwood Dick, based on the tales of Joe R. Lansdale, as well as the covers of all seven installments.
